How To Organize: Storage Room
Time Frame: 8 labor hrs
Most Common Assignment: 4 hrs with 2 organizers / 2.66 hrs with 3 organizers
Step 1 Meet Client/Get Started
Time Frame: 15 minutes (30 min total)
- Meet client
- Walk into space
- Ask client if they have any special requests
- Ask client questions to identify any obvious donations, trash and items that should go to other areas of the home, if any
- Send client away so we can get to work
- Bring containers and bins inside
Step 2
Time Frame: 120 minutes (4 hrs total)
- Separate items into 3 categories based on client needs
- These items should go in a pile for client to approve in step 3
- Update the Eight Days Organization group text on the items that need donated for planning purposes
- These items should go in a separate pile for client to approve in step 3
- Update the Eight Days Organization group text on the items that are for trash / haul away for planning purposes
- Shelving is put together, if applicable
- Items start to be organized into existing or new storage totes and on shelving
Step 3
Time Frame: 5 minutes (10 min total)
- Send the office photo updates on project
Step 4
Time Frame: 15 minutes (30 min total)
- Discussion with client half through project
- Get approval from client before items are loaded to take to donation or trash
- Ask client additional questions to identify any remaining trash / donate / keep
- Ensure client is happy with progress thus far
Step 5
Time Frame: 10 minutes (20 min total)
- Load all donations and trash that has been approved up into garage / on driveway / into Eight Days vehicle
- This allows for easy pickup by the Eight Days Office based on the game plan decided upon in Step 2
- Alternatively, this is sometimes loaded into your vehicles based on the game plan decided upon in Step 2
Step 6
Time Frame: 60 minutes (2 hrs total)
- Continue to Sort/Organize
- Finish organizing items into existing or new storage totes
- Totes are organized on shelving
- Other items are organized on shelving
- Totes are labeled with custom label maker with clear, specific categories
Step 7
Time Frame: 15 minutes (30 min total)
- Finish anything up that is needed
- Capture after photos and video content / send to the office
- Return the final items to space after photos and videos are done
- Clean up the space and return any items to other parts of the house where needed
- Walk the client through their new space if they are home
- Lock up the home (if needed) and clock out
